On Da Dream Book

Somewhere between a technical manual and a dream log, this catalogue came together while thinking about the Honda Dream manual. A symbol of aspiration, it’s robust, functional, almost sacred.

We were inspired by its mechanical logic, bold, diagrammatic, to channel Vy’s work through the lens of graphic design. Instead of bike instructions, it now holds her sculptures: standing fans, clothing racks, and other everyday objects that shape life in Saigon.

I’ve always loved how that manual feels, cold yet oddly comforting. It tells you what to do with symbols and structure. So when Vy Trịnh and Thái Hà asked me to design this exhibition book for Chicago Expo, it just clicked. It’s not just a record of the work, it’s a companion. A tool. A vehicle. 🏍️
